The situation when the toilet is leaking and water flows from under the tank is common. If the toilet was bought recently, there may be several reasons - for example, a poorly fixed tank, a broken part of the mechanism, improper installation. But if the toilet is very old, most likely, its service life has simply ended. No matter how you look after him, no matter what means you use, sooner or later the rust from the water will do its job. It is necessary to change all the insides for new, similar ones. How to do this quickly and correctly so as not to spoil the design as a whole?

Remove all fasteners

We unscrew the side mount on the tank and remove the drain mechanism.

Next, pay attention to the bottom nut. If you use the toilet for a long time, even if you constantly clean it, this part is often the most rusty. We unscrew it to the end, trying not to break the mount, which often happens on old toilets.

We unscrew the fixing bolts from the bottom, pull them out from the inside of the tank. In severe cases, use a box head screwdriver and pliers.

As you can see, both the whole mechanism and all fastenings have already served their purpose and they need to be completely changed.

We process the tank and remove the remaining mechanism

We completely remove the toilet bowl, wash it well and the base on which it is attached.

We take out all the remaining "insides", a plastic nut with a seal. We put our tank in order - we wash it with detergents in the bathroom.

Installing a new drain mechanism

We take a new mechanism, install it according to the instructions. Make sure all new seals are in place. We fasten everything in the reverse order - first a large plastic nut with a rubber pad.

We assemble the fasteners - we place a washer, a plastic part and a cone-shaped elastic band on a metal pin.

We put the tank in place, clamp it with fasteners, tighten these fasteners with plastic nuts from below. Pay attention that the cone-shaped rubber part fits snugly into the connection holes.

We mount the descent mechanism and only then the main part. This will make it faster and more convenient. The escapement mechanism is simply unwound, inserted into the hole and screwed back with the same plastic washer. Screw on the hose.

Install the main valve. Before installation, be sure to test it for strength and stability. After inserting it into the drain, check that it snaps into place tightly.

We insert the part with the "antennae".

If necessary, we make a new drain button. And we check how well our installation turned out. Drain the water and check the attachment points.
