The proper substrate for Anthurium: prepare yourself
Proper soil preparation for tropical plants - is not easy. Best of all anthurium will feel in the substrate, an approximate composition to the soil in the homeland of its habitat. It grows in the rainforest, so the soil should resemble the composition of the forest turf.
Required properties of the substrate
Soil for anthurium should have the necessary parameters to the plant felt good, and it was great:
· The loose
The substrate should be of medium looseness. Heavy soil will not quickly absorb nutrients. A too easy ground will interfere with the normal development of the root system.
· Components
To prepare the proper substrate, such components can be used for Anthurium: Sheet land, sphagnum moss, peat, humus soil of deciduous forest, humus needles, earth from the garden, a large sand.
· Additives
As additives to improve properties of the substrate can use small pieces of charcoal, perlite, fly ash, pine bark or brick.
Components for the substrate can be used, not all, but a choice. For example, a sheet ground and soil from a deciduous forest can be replaced each other. The additive is also selected any one. Too complicated composition is not very good for anthurium.
The process of preparing the substrate and pot
Pot Anthurium should be chosen according to the size of the root system. At the bottom necessarily put drainage.
Approximately half of the substrate must occupy the land. Suit or ground sheet, or the land of the deciduous forest, or Ogorodnaya. The other half of the volume of the substrate will take peat, sphagnum moss, humus and sand needles.
These parts must be taken equally with respect to each other. Mix well.
The resulting mixture is necessary to add water-retaining components of perlite, vermiculite or coconut. The amount of these components should not be more than 10% of the total volume of the resulting mixture.
Perlite and vermiculite must be crushed into fragments no larger than 5 mm.
By itself, the substrate for anthurium get a very nutritious, so in the early stages after planting the plants, it does not require additional dressing.
If the mixture is made correctly, it turns out no worse than in composition than ready primers from well-known manufacturers. Anthurium in a substrate will feel great.
