The British used their underground mansions to increase living space
Recently I learned an interesting fact, as the London millionaires extend the living space of their homes. It turns out that metropolitan authorities are not allowed to finish building the old mansions up or in width.
To move to the outskirts, to spend money on new construction of the rich and famous British did not want to. Solution to the problem they have found in the use of underground space in their homes. Conventional basements converted into spas, swimming pools, gyms, cinemas, parking with elevator for cars, etc.
Underground floors reaches 4. Living area can be increased by 2 times. These houses were called "iceberg at home."
At first I thought it was a great idea. Underground life will not disturb the neighbors, to save space on the surface, not sleeping areas will turn into a concrete jungle.
But then I thought: "How do they implement all this?". It is necessary to carry out a study of the soil, to develop the project. Large equipment must not only go underground, but also raise the back.
As it turned out, many of these billionaires do not perplexed, save on remodeling. Construction work often causes damage to neighboring houses. Excavators dig at the site. It is cheaper than to raise them to the surface.
In my opinion, such an attitude to the environment and people is simply outrageous.
But if you tighten control over such construction projects, to develop the rules and regulations of alterations, to introduce the necessary restrictions, the idea is to get the right to exist not only in London.
How would you react to being able to use your basement more effectively? If you can not afford to make the swimming pool or spa, we can restrict more modest ideas. This may be a small gym, a garage or a cinema for the family and guests.
