How to make a simple capacitor
Condenser - this is one of the most important elements of all modern electronics, but despite its importance, it has a fairly simple structure. Despite the diversity of the capacitor consists of two materials (electrode) having a positive and a negative charge that are separated by a dielectric material.
In this article, I propose to you to share with your child a little experiment and create their own simple capacitor.
The first method
preparation of material
So, in the first embodiment, in order to collect the elementary capacitor with us you will need:
1. Any glass container. This will be our dielectric material. I will use a jar of baby food.
2. Hot water and salt.
3. Aluminium foil. This will be one of the two electrodes. I will use the most ordinary food foils (hopefully, his wife will not be much to object).
4. Metal cylinder. Suit absolutely any that you'll find, though, take a nail.
5. Any DC power source. I'll take the most ordinary 9 volt crown.
This is all that is required for assembly and at least another half an hour of free time.
Getting to assembly
So, after you have prepared everything necessary, you are ready to assemble the capacitor:
- Take our jar and fill it with hot water, then add salt and to dissolve it.
- After that, we take the foil and wrap around our jar.
- Now put the metal object into a vessel in such a way that its upper part has above the liquid surface. I took a big bolt.
All, in fact, our capacitor ready. Now you can take a multimeter to check the capacitance of the resulting product.
Well, now proceed to charge our capacitor. To do this, take for example, the crown, and charges the capacitor.
Important. Despite the fact that the voltage on the capacitor plates will be minimal, after charging, do not touch the plates of the capacitor itself, and do not let your loved ones to do, since it is charged, and you can get electric shock.
The second way
To collect the second capacitor means we need to:
1. Food aluminum foil. It can be purchased at any store absolutely.
2. Polyethylene film. you can even use an ordinary transparent bag if desired.
The assembly process
In this case, the assembly is very simple: an aluminum foil cut out a couple of plates and polyethylene cut three rectangles slightly larger:
After that collect a sandwich of materials:
And we have the following structure:
A detailed process of assembling and tank inspection you can see in this video.
conclusion
If spending this experiment with your child, you heard from him: "Dad (Mom), how does it work?" Then consider you have won a small victory.
Of course, this is the most simple experiment and many readers may be skeptical experts in this material, but the goal of this article lies in the fact that every single parent is able to conduct an experiment with your child and thus generate interest if you want to studies. And if even one child then sits down at the textbook, not the game, I'll be proud of the fact that this is a small part of my merits. Thank you for your attention!
