Frankly speaking, we are in the village had never fought the wormy apples. 5 years ago we have apple harvest was not very good and in most turned out to be worm-eaten. That's when I thought about ways to combat moth and measures for prevention of occurrence of these pests.

Measures for the prevention of excessive reproduction include the annual digging the ground in late fall on the territory of some apple trees. Not 100%, but this measure helps to destroy the majority of pick up for the winter in the soil of caterpillars. They are killed by frost in the winter, and in summer they become less noticeable. But remained still too much.

After a couple of weeks after flowering apple butterflies begin to fly around the apple trees with greater activity. At this time they lay their larvae. We hung out in the crown of apple traps from plastic bottles (and can be from cans), filling them with a decoy. Only here the plastic bottles need to cut off the upper part of the neck, leaving as a large glass to fly into the butterfly calm Mogi odor.

The bait was prepared as a very sweet compote of dried apples (by 2n. water about 100g apples boil about half an hour). Little cool, filter, add yeast, stir thoroughly, poured into a trap. Butterfly larvae flew to postpone attract the smell of fermentation and, having flown there, they drown.

The next stage in the fight against these worms - arrange traps on the trunks. If, however, the butterfly could postpone larvae, caterpillars still will eat one apple, inside of which fall to the ground. Fallen apples necessarily meet regularly and dispose of. And those tracks that have time to get out of them, we catch on the trunk when they climb back for fresh fruit.

To do this, be sure, we used "track glue". It is necessary to take the parchment paper, folded in 2-3 layers, in the form of a belt to impose the trunk of apple and secure with tape or duct tape. Try not to leave a gap between the bark and paper. The width of the belt must be for the convenience of approximately 15 cm. on top of the paper is smeared with glue, not susceptible to atmospheric influence. Climbing the trunk of fruit, caterpillar stuck in this trap.

Do not forget to follow all the traps and their time to clean, update. Such works have to travel almost the whole summer. But, if you so keep an eye on your apple, then the next year you much delight the harvest. Do not be lazy and wish to harvest without plodozherki!
