Anatomical lamp made of wood: their own hands
In the capable hands of the tree becomes truly magical material. Besides designer furnitureFor the production of a valuable wood used in the course are wood waste, on the basis of which is created hybrid wood. The tree responds well to bonding. Wood is Bent truss system in the form of lancet arches.
It is the flexibility of wood and the ability to give it any form attracted the American designer Paul Foeklera, who decided to make of the "pieces of wood" unusual and stylish lamp.
Paul Foekler:
One day I came across logs with a strong and beautiful structure. Throw them into the fire in my hand was raised. I began to twist them this way and that. And I came up with the idea - to give them a second life, making of them a beautiful lamp.
Paul decided to cut off all unnecessary and, thus, emphasize the texture of wood. Clearing churbachki from the cortex, the designer has split them into several pieces. At the same time, he did not try to achieve perfect symmetry or to use machines. Pricked as went hand. The result is a few blanks, different from each other.
After that, Paul Polenz cut crosswise into several pieces. Further, Hollow core, the designer took a metal rod and strung on it slices and set into the LED lamp.
Outwardly light something like a spine made of wood. The asymmetry of the product only emphasizes its unusual shape.
To improve heat removal from the working lights in the lower part of the luminaire embedded aluminum core radiator.
Depending on the size of the lamp and the selected shape, it can be put on the table (for this bottom-glued rubber feet) or attach metal legs and set on the floor.
In order to emphasize the wood structure and texture of tree rings, but not "score" the natural look of wood, blanks coated with varnish.
The lamp has turned out to be so successful and popular that Paul decided to put the matter on the flow and the author has created a series of lamps. Moreover, none of the product does not follow the previous one. The shape, size, cut width, the saturation of the light flux, which gives the lamp - all this gives the uniqueness and individuality.
Depending on the complexity of the product, for the manufacture of a lamp may take up to 100 hours.
According to Paul, anyone who was going to do such a thing, it is important to find "your" tree. Californian designer uses cypress wood and ash.
Paul Foekler:
This wood has its own character, it is soft and easily processed, it allows the use of different methods of work.
For example, the designer combines grinding with rough chopped stressed forms.
It reveals and emphasizes the natural texture of wood and enhances the effect of the lamp.
Also Paul advises experiment with the distance between the slices.
Increasing or reducing this distance or by combining both methods, it is possible to achieve such an effect that when Some corners of the tree will look solid array, inside of which poured muffled shine.
Paul Foekler:
In his works, I do not use freshly sawn timber - specifically looking for dead wood. And it's not just that I do not want to destroy the living trees. Wood of fallen trunks of many years is of particular aesthetics, allowing you to create one real sculpture.
