Two extremes: in some homes and how people live in Montenegro
Montenegro - known to the world the country of natural contrasts. Its territory is warm and calm Adriatic Sea adjacent to the harsh mountain climate. Also, the country has experienced many difficulties in its history. All this leaves a strong imprint on the home Montenegrins.
Traditional property overlooking the coast are villas. Not like us in the movies, and the small, stone built on awkward terrain. Now locals are actively building standard two-storey cottages instead of the usual houses, but one thing remains constant. An important element of the Montenegrin homes are a balcony or terrace.
Oh, Montenegrins like terraces! And not like the sun. On the covered terraces Montenegrins sleepy crawl in the morning, brew yourself a strong coffee and lighting a cigarette. A little later they pulled numerous relatives and friends, gatherings and continuing all day, replaced only the face. You yourself, not long been in Montenegro, learn to get up early and spend the morning on the terrace, grapevine, with a cup of coffee "Polaco" mode.
For lack of a terrace of some locals pulled up in a cafe with a similar space and can sit there for hours. As in Montenegro, you can also observe a pretty funny picture: in Budva on Yadranskom way homeowners who do not was fortunate enough to acquire a villa with a terrace, chairs put out the door and take guests directly in front of a busy road.
Gen. Montenegro burdened by the fact that the houses have central heating and hot water. Not for us to judge, it is convenient or not, but people just have to buy heaters, boilers, and pay large sums for electricity.
But it is necessary to climb a little higher, and we will see a very different Montenegro.
The stark, dark, dotted with cliffs and mountain rivers, it does not look like a tourist and sunny coast. And the people there are well matched - tall, warlike, with serious faces. They live in the same harsh homes.
Since ancient times, the Highlanders were Katun housing - built of stone with a wooden roof dwellings, which was not sorry to leave at the next threat and hide in the mountains. Katun were small buildings of four rooms - two for the family and two cattle. It so happens that, in spite of the presence of the community, Katun not form a single settlement. they were scattered buildings on the hilltops. Several conventional katuns was the main katun, which played the role of all: churches, alarm, address, place of community gathering.
Now Katun people still live. Long-term prokomunnisticheskaya authorities could not, and did not try to eradicate it and to set up the panel five-story building, as was done in other countries of the socialist camp. Marshal Tito is very respectful of the history and characteristics of the country.
But who live in these settlements? Usually these are people who live there his life without the benefits of civilization and do not want to move. Also live those who are engaged in cattle breeding and agriculture. However, for them it is more seasonal, temporary housing, and now they choose for themselves a place closer to the city.
Most of the remaining katuns - is abandoned, crumbling shacks that here and there you can meet, doing mountain trekking.
Some Katun lucky they were on the tourist route, for example, in the village of Njegusi that over whom. There are still people living in Katun, turn your house into a winery and cheese factory. To the north, in Durmitor National Park, Katun under the fashion trend turned into eco-Katun - small hotels for those who want during their holiday to unite with nature. If you search the Internet for the word "katun", most likely, the first thing that you'll find - it's advertising similar hotels.
At one of these extremes would you live? Were you in Montenegro, what are your impressions of this beautiful country? Write about it in the comments.
