What to put in the holes when planting cucumbers. Revealing a family secret
Many novice gardeners are interested in the question of what to put in the hole when planting cucumber seedlings. These crops are recommended to be planted in the greenhouse from mid-May. By this time, the plants have real leaves.
In mid-April, I planted several popular hybrids among gardeners for seedlings. These are Zyatek F1, Connie F1 and Garland F1. They belong to early ripening, early ripening and high-yielding cucumbers. Fruiting from June to September.
Conditions for planting cucumber seedlings
To plant cucumber seedlings in a greenhouse or greenhouse, the soil temperature must be at least + 17 degrees. It is a thermophilic culture that does not tolerate cold ground.
What to put in the hole when landing
My grandmother always put lightly chopped nettles on the bottom, which grew on the site. According to family traditions, I do the same. When the plant begins to rot in the ground, it will give the cucumbers food and warmth, which the Zelensk people love so much.
At the bottom of the hole I put a twine or rope that will tie the cucumber. I also pour chalk or dolomite flour into the hole in the amount of 1 tbsp. spoons.
I also add 1-2 tablespoons of wood ash, which I mix with turf or compost. I don’t put anything else, because since autumn, when digging in a greenhouse, I brought humus into the ground. In addition, in September she planted siderates (mustard).
After the ingredients have been added, I spill the holes well with warm water and plant the seedlings. I wind the rope around the peg. In the future, it will be used for garters of cucumber creepers.
The scheme of the formation of cucumbers with a bouquet type of flowering
Since I chose hybrids with the formation of 4-6 ovaries in a knot, there are peculiarities of the formation of a cucumber liana to obtain a good harvest of zelents.
0 zone. In the axils of the first 3-4 leaves, I carry out blinding (plucking out the rudiments of shoots and ovaries). I leave the leaves, do not touch.
1 zone. Then I form the plant into one stem. Along the entire length of the main stem, I remove all the rudiments of the lateral shoots, leave the ovaries.
2 zone. When the main stem reaches the trellis wire, I wrap it around the last one. I pinch it when it reaches a nearby cucumber vine. I remove all lateral shoots in this area.
Successful harvests to you!
