How to cut the plywood jigsaw without chipping

Hello! Today I decided to touch on an interesting topic, namely "How to cut the plywood without chipping electric jigsaw?". Someone may see a question: "Why sawing plywood jigsaw, because you can use, for example, circular saw?". Personally for me the task is to make not only a direct pure propyl, but figured, but with shaped rezom can handle only jigsaw. Write this post prompted me to one article, which accidentally caught my eye. It describes several ways to cut plywood without chips, which I did not know. Prior to this, to make a clean cut, I used an ordinary masking tape, but to learn about other ways I was It is interesting to experiment and find out which of the methods is the best, and what is not worth use. Today I will share with you the results and in the end make a conclusion, which I hope you will complete his comments.

Before we discuss all of the known methods for cutting plywood and show you the results of your tests, I'll write a few general tips that will make the already cut cleaner.

1. Remove the pendulum move.

If your jigsaws is a function of the pendulum action, it is best to turn it off. This function allows you to cut faster, but it cut quality deteriorates.

2. We use high-quality nail files.

Do not skimp on the nail file, use high-quality saw blades. They are best sharpened and their lifespan is much longer than the cheaper counterparts.

3. Make a clean cut with a rough hand.

As you know, when sawing jigsaw chipped appear only on one side (upper or lower side, depending on the direction of sawing teeth). Since the rough side is more prone to chipping than finishing better cut so that the teeth of the saw blade digging into the dirty side and coming out with the finishing. This advice is worth taking into consideration if you care to get a quality propyl both sides.

These tips will help make smaller chips for cutting, but a perfect clean cut is still not out. So we have to use one of the methods described below.

Do pure propyl (experiment)

Online people give a variety of tips to make a clean cut when cutting plywood. But do they all work? It will find us. I have highlighted the most common ways that should help cut the plywood without chips and I have counted as many as 8 points:

1) Wet cutting water line.

2) Apply a line of cut PVA glue.

3) Lay a piece of plywood, which will go to the expense.

4) Stick to the line of cut masking tape.

5) Cut open the plywood with a knife along the lines of future cuts.

6) To saw for sawing metal.

7) To saw for sawing a laminate.

8) Use a special patch - splinterguard.

As you can see quite a lot of advice, so I'll share two articles on the topic. In this article we will look at the first 5 points. For testing, I took 4/4 grade plywood. The purity of the cutting will be judged on five-point scale. And so, let's start the experiment.

1. Moisten with water cutting line.

Often, in the comments on various websites seen that people are advised to moisten the cutting with plain water line. Let's see what happens.

propyl dampened

As you can see the result is not bad, but small chips and burrs is still there. Honestly, this method is not very much to me. I give it an 3.

2. Glue to the line of cut masking tape.

Glue masking tape and make propyl.

We see the result. Propyl turned out not perfect, but pretty neat. Thus it is possible to do both straight and curly cut. Adhesive tape is applied quickly, easily removed and leaves no trace. I think masking tape has earned a solid 4!

3. Draw the line of cut PVA glue.

I must say that this method is only suitable if you plan to paint the plywood and then, otherwise it will be difficult to polish a dried glue. Apply PVA glue on the cutting line, give it time to dry and do propyl. We see the result:

Res was a good, almost exactly the same as with masking tape (probably a little better) 4 Honored. This method is also suitable for both direct and figured cutting, so feel free to take it on board. The only thing I want to add that a lot of time is spent on the glue application (if you want to cut a lot), and should not be applied too thin layer, or chips may be more.

4. Incised plywood with a knife along the cutting line.

Using stationery knife make two cuts to the width of the saw blade along the cutting line multiple times, gradually going into plywood, and make propyl.

The result is very good, better than with glue and tape. There are barely noticeable flaws, but no chips. However, this method is more suitable for the straight cut, and it will only work with saws whose teeth pointing upwards. If used, the process is very time consuming to figure cutting. But I appreciate the cleanliness of cut. You can safely put 4-plus.

5. We put a piece of plywood unnecessary.

Depending on which way the aimed sawing teeth, up or down, respectively put above or We put a bottom piece of plywood or other material that would go to the expense, and pressed the whole thing clamps. Thus, we apply pressure and cut chips will not be formed.

Lined Consumables cut to get the net, but I think this method is a little wasteful and inconvenient. Perhaps he, too, is more suitable for straight cuts, because if you cut out any patterns, the lining must be pretty big. Nevertheless, we appreciate the cleanliness of cut here solid 5!

Output.

In principle, all the above methods show a good result (except the process with water) and after light sanding with sandpaper propyl get perfect, so what method to use to solve only you. Personally for me, the favorite and remained masking tape. In the next article we will look at the remaining three ways: by using saws for metal saws for Special liner laminate and.

I hope you have been interesting. Write in the comments your opinion and do not forget to subscribe to the channel "Podelkin".
