Glued laminated timber is considered one of the most promising materials for wooden construction. It is sturdy, durable, and most importantly - environmentally friendly. In Russia, laminated veneer lumber is gaining popularity, but the builders of Europe and America already has something to show.

Today we look at the tallest building of laminated veneer lumber in the world. This 24-storey building Hoho Wien height of 84 meters. Construction is carried out in Austria in Vienna, and at the time of writing this article, me, it is already nearing completion.
Three building block with 19,500 square meters of floor area of the city form a closed environment in which there are residential and business areas, hotel, sports, wellness, Beauty and restaurant complexes. The share of wood in Hoho Wien is approximately 75%. Arrays of laminated veneer lumber is used for the outer frame, wall and facade decoration. This is done because there is relatively little experience of the use of timber in such projects will not completely eliminate the iron and concrete skeleton of the building.
As the engineers, in spite of all the unique buildings, develop any completely new technologies and techniques was not necessary. All the "private" solutions have worked in the construction industry.
Hoho Wien project demonstrates that the transition to environmentally friendly wood construction is possible without a significant impact on the construction market and high development costs. Thus, the builders of the world are increasingly improvise with a tree in major construction projects.
