Sliding gates. Why is this option for my fence?

When choosing a gate for the fence need to be based on many factors:

• Functionality
• operational benefits
• Reliability

This is especially important when you are doing gated complex, to build a house. From the entrance to the site will depend on convenience, and sometimes even the possibility of work.

But, initially, my choice fell on the sliding doors, simply because I like this system is purely visual. Of course it is impossible to choose one such criterion, and I I decided to find out more detail.

Special functional and operational advantages, I have not found. But there is a reason for that, in my opinion, decides to ...

The load on the fence.

Perhaps this is the most important criterion by which you want to choose the gate.

On swing gates, The load is on two pillars to which they are attached, and the direction of application of the load to the poles changes when you close and open gate. It turns out these supports are constantly shaken. And here you need a very solid foundation for the pillars, so that they all survived.

I believe this is the main advantage of sliding gates.

Yes, but here I made a strong support of several weaknesses:

The pillars are made of paired parts of 40x40 (red arrows) And honey are connected, and the base is concreted. In this case, they operate as a single unit.

A set top rollers and bottom (black arrows). Thus, load is distributed not on the top or bottom separately, and the entire structure.

But I have an option - "doing of what is."

My doors are made entirely from the profile 40h20. Only the lower profile I additionally welded, overlapped corner 40x40 Since fell more wear.

The only drawback may be a little heavy. We have to make an effort, but I still manage... :)
