A simple device for the router to make grooves
In fact, with the help of this device can be done not only to the grooves on the plane parts, but also to make rectangular samples of different sizes, as well as decorative milling.
Initially, I had a task to make grooves in the stringer for steps and risers. Of course you could just make a template for this particular ladder, but I decided to do a little more versatile device.
Here's how it looked in the drawing.
The device was made of plywood 6 and 8 mm. It has turned it on a template type, only with adjustable width and length of the resulting groove.
Part two devices resemble the letter "G", converging towards each other.
On the one hand such a part is made through slot for adjustment, and the other two fanerki crimped base and is provided for screw fixation.
That's how it looks in the drawing.
Also on the edge of the base strip glued plywood, which serve as stops for the mill site.
Groove size, you can simply set the thickness of the part that is inserted into the slot.
Device can be pressed against the clamps parts in the right place and make a groove of desired length. Additional help stop this.
After milling get slot size.
As I have said, initially I made it to the stairs, but there are more opportunities. For example, if you put a semi-circular cutter, you can make a number of vertical lines of decorative finishes. Or do some cross the lines and get the likeness grille. You can also do extensive sampling in the blanks planes just gradually moving the device in the plane. And of course you can make grooves for the shelves in a rack cabinet or cabinets.
For clarity, I suggest to watch the video on this device.
And if you want you can download drawings.
