Pencil holders on a jig machine. unusual way
Continues the story of decorative baskets made in the jig machine. I started this topic in the article: Gifts from a tree with his hands.
In the same publication we will focus on such a basket:
Typically, these baskets are made so - on a flat blank is marked with a series of concentric rings shaped form. It's a bit like a target.
Then, these rings are cut and glued from smaller to larger with each subsequent slight rotation of the ring.
Due to the curved form, when the ring is not inserted into each other.
With this approach obtained wide decorative baskets, but for high baskets need to either increase the height of the material, or to increase the number of rings.
The above example baskets, which is made of material of 20 mm thick. The total height of a basket received 100 mm. And when the thickness of the ring is 5 mm in its height 20 mm. This proportion does not always look good.
Now, about the increase in the number of rings. When starting with the bottom diameter, for example 50 mm, the thickness of the preform 6 mm and a width of the ring is 5 mm for 10-rings and obtain 60-mm height and diameter of the upper ring will have 140 mm. That's the math ..
And with this, I did this pencil holders - made three templates with a difference in initial size of just 3 mm.
And then, when assembling the basket taking ring sequentially from the three templates. That is, the bottom of the first template, the second template from the second ring and the second ring from the third template. Again, going back to the first.
Bottoms were not needed from the second and third pattern.
The result is a basket-like glass. At a height of 96 mm top ring came only 100 mm and the number of such rings used piece 16 together with the bottom. If the template was placed on a workpiece, the upper ring would have come about 200mm. And it would make a cup rather than a glass.
The described method has a great potential for the production of decorative baskets of various shapes, only need to include fantasy.
