Geotextile for fundanmenta. A waste of money or a necessity?

Every year an increasing number of different construction methods and, accordingly, the materials that are used in them.

But, for me, most of all attracted interest -geotekstil.

Or rather its use in the construction of the foundation. This is one of the few materials, the use of which, I have met many, completely different opinions.

Especially at different forums, all disputes regarding its application in concrete situations.

For myself, I have identified the main properties of geotextiles it performs:

• filtering groundwater
• obstacle mixing of dissimilar materials (e.g. sand and gravel)
• strengthening the bearing capacity of soil.

Personally, I used it in two stages of construction:

1. When did drainage around the foundation.

2. in the regeneration pillows under the foundation.

Drainage.

The drain in my opinion, the geotextile performs one main function -this filtering. Ie it does not clog the pipes, for the normal functioning of the system.

Here, I am sure that his use is compulsoryIf you do not want to redo the drainage in a few years.

And here, to be honest, I still doubt: well I did or not?

But doubts were as follows:

1. The bottom of the pit was already very tight, it can be said, as the asphalt (sandy loam with fine sand, very dense). Therefore, further enhance the bearing capacity, such as was not required.

2. The depth of the pit of the ball only 30 cm. Even with my high groundwater level (0.5 to 1.5 m.), It is unlikely that there will be such a situation, the water will be washed out and silting pad foundation.

3. And that sand cushion will lie directly on the sandy foundation of the pit, I do not see nothing wrong.

But in the end, After it was dug pit, I still spread a geotextile. And it was packed and rammed sand cushion. and I did it for one reason.

Yes exactly. With that, I used geotextile 200th density, it cost me about 6,000 rubles. And, I believe, even if just a little geotextiles have a positive impact on the quality of the foundation base, it will be the normal price, not "knowingly buried money."
