How to use iron in a home workshop. The situation first.
You know, a wooden workpiece is also possible to iron an iron.
You ask why?
For the same reason stroking the rumpled cloth - to remove dents.
The situation is as follows. During the preparation of wooden furniture parts or other product, there are cases of dents - from an impact tool, workpiece or other chips. For example as follows:
Grind these dents almost impossible. But to steam iron - very real.
As you know from water wood swells. If you drop a little water on the indentation site, then after a while it swells and fiber will rise.
Much faster turns to do the same with the help of an iron and a damp cloth. In this case, under the influence of the fiber pair quickly returned to its shape, and the iron will not allow them to rise above the details of the plane.
Now look at the results after stripping:
This is the same rail section. Circled the place with the deepest dent. As you can see all the dents left. At the site of the deepest noticeably small spot, which can be easily removed by grinding finish.
To complete the picture there is a short video.
Yet the question arises how this method behaves in the already painted details.
I tried to strip dents on colored stained pine boards - a good result. Also I tried on the boards painted with polyurethane varnish. Here I was acting cautiously, often raised iron to check coverage. As a result, a dent is significantly reduced, although not completely disappeared, and the coating remains undamaged.
Other experiments have not done, so I do not know how to behave in a different coating on other materials. But on the net - without covering - the way the board works well for any breed.
The use of iron in the home studio is not so limited. On other occasions, when the iron will to help me tell in other publications.
