A simple way to insulate the frame
Being a proud owner of a two-storey wooden log house never really thought about it heat loss, he stoked "stronger" and was pleased. But when progress came before me thermal imager orange spots showed heat loss from the walls.
For the record: the greatest heat loss are shown in red, a little smaller - orange. That is, my house was losing a lot of heat.
To warm the house I have recommended tighter caulked logs than I do. I share the secrets of the process.
Secret 1. It turns out that bar every year need to caulk during the first five years after it was built.
Secret 2. If a large gap - pound "vnabor" (fold the material in two or three layers and hammer until it stops) if narrow slits - one pound layer from edge to edge of the timber.
Secret 3. Most heat escapes through the corners of a log house, they need to insulate the best!
Secret 4. Choose the right material, it will save money!
There are three materials:
- Jute - expensive material that does not pick out the birds during the nesting period, when your frame is not sheathed outside. If you caulk inside the frame, do not overpay for jute!
- Linen - cheap and durable material, which is often pulled the bird to twist a nest;
- moss - rot-antiseptic material which is hard to clog between the logs.
