Why are rectangular holes required in every plastic window?
Have you ever noticed that in every modern plastic window (installed after 2010), whether it is a window in an apartment or a country house, there are tricky holes in the lower part of the frame?
These are through holes (you can see them both inside and outside) and usually they have an elongated rectangular shape. Many do not even know their purpose, and some even cover them up with a sealant, having read in Zen that this is a production defect through which the cold gets into the house.
These are the holes in the photo:
Why do we need holes in plastic windows?
In fact, this is a very important element of the entire design. These holes are called drainage holes and serve to drain moisture.
During operation, when there are different temperatures and different humidity conditions between the opening sash and the frame inside and outside the room can accumulate moisture.
To prevent moisture from corroding the metal elements of the window (all rotary mechanisms), moisture is removed using the following drainage holes:
The upper right figure shows another required element - a plug for a drain hole. It prevents the wind from blowing moisture back and at the same time directs the condensation drops straight down to the low tide.
If you are interested in the whole hole pattern, you are welcome:
