An example of the correct waterproofing of a roof pipe
Hello everyone! More and more often, stove or fireplace heating is used to heat country houses, and country houses. The latter type is especially popular because it creates a cozy atmosphere in the house. If you are also thinking about arranging such a heating, read, how to reliably waterproof a pipe on the roof.
Why is it important?
At first, waterproofing saves the wooden structures of the roofing part of the house from moisture accumulation and decay. But this is already obvious.
The second reason - accumulation of moisture directly inside the chimney due to temperature differences. The presence of water vapor inside the pipe impairs the traction, and also increases the pressure in the pipe, which can lead to its destruction. How difficult it is to restore the pipe, I think you understand.
How to seal the pipe?
I would single out the following building materials most convenient for sealing pipes:
- galvanized iron;
- silicone sealants;
- bituminous mastic;
- diffuse membranes.
Someone will add that metal corners and Portland cement can be used, and they will be right. But these materials are more difficult to install, so I see no point in talking about them.
Installation instructions
For independent builders, I would recommend using roofing tapes - they are the easiest to use, and all you need to do is follow the pictures from the instructions. I present them below:
The first stage of installation.
Second stage of installation
As you can see, with such a system, the pipe acquires a kind of "skirt" of waterproofing on all sides. An important quality is that the tape does not collapse under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, which means that in the absence of mechanical damage it will quietly last 15-20 years.
