How to quickly and evenly cut a strip from roofing material without unwinding a roll

For waterproofing under the Mauerlat, waterproofing is needed. Since the construction of the bath, a roll of roofing material was lying around (he poured TISE piles into a shirt made of roofing material wrapped with tape). Decided to use it.

What is the easiest way to cut a 20 cm wide strip? I started doing it with an old hacksaw. But the teeth were quickly clogged with tar and I did not advance further 5-7 skeins. Moreover, the strip had to be constantly unwound.

I got the idea to try to cut the roll with a jigsaw. And, as they say: oh, miracle! The material was not only perfectly cut with large blade teeth, but also adhered to the tool (did not melt). Sawdust was formed from tar. This was the first surprise.

I cut the started strip, but no longer unwound it. I just turned the roll against the movement of the jigsaw. It turned out that the canvas sawed it around the circumference. And the final result looks like this:

Smooth cut. The edges have not melted around the edge. And the canvas remained clean, which surprised me a second time. The process can be seen in the video:

I don’t know a simpler, faster and cleaner way of how to cut a roll of roofing material. If you are familiar with such or have used it - write in the comments.
