How to feed geraniums after pruning so that it grows a crown faster. 🔹 I use and am satisfied
And again a fiery fireworks, restless fellow flower growers!
I will not tire of repeating: spring pruning of geraniums is a must‼ spring event. The foundation for a lush and long summer-autumn bloom. After the ennobling haircut of pelargonium in the floriculture schedule, a special feeding is proceeding according to the plan, which will help the "hemp" fervently branch out and quickly grow the green cap of leaves.
The main macronutrient responsible for the growth of the crown of plants is nitrogen (N). It must be brought in 1-2 times after cutting the geranium to hint to your favorite pelargonium: "Beauty, it's time to grow over!"
I am writing for you a list of options for how and how to make geraniums a nitrogen treat. From simple to complex, save and use ✅
For flower shopaholics
There are 2 good fertilizers with a lion's share of nitrogen in the composition. These are Plantafol and Plantafid. If my memory serves me, the NPK proportions are 54:10:10. Exactly what is needed. But here's the catch: you can't find magic powders on store shelves. I bought "Plantafol" in the online store along with the seeds.
So that the picky and skeptical readers about all sorts of foreign things do not consider my modest note as an advertisement, I will not describe the delights of the aforementioned fertilizers. I will only note that "Plantafol" and "Plantafid" are used for foliar dressing, that is, for spraying on a leaf.
And now - more affordable options.
In the nearest hardware department of the store, you will probably find it - urea (it is also urea)
Does it make sense to order fertilizers if every store with gardening shelves has urea? There is a little less nitrogen in it - 46%. There is practically no difference: a cheap tool will also perfectly give a trimmed geranium a magical pendal.
I use urea to feed geraniums like this:
- I take about 4 grams of granules (a little less than half a tablespoon without a slide) and dissolve in 1 liter of warm water.
- First of all, I treat the plant at the root.
- Pour the rest into a spray bottle, adding a little clean and warm water. I spray it over the leaf. Yes, when pruning pelargonium, I always leave 2-5 leaves on each stump.
Urea will work - that's for sure. Soon you will see a friendly increase in greenery.
And now the most affordable option
If you don't want to reinvent the wheel, take any complex fertilizer for decorative deciduous plants in liquid form or powder like Agricola. There is less nitrogen here, but we will win by the number of dressings: 1 at the root - in a week 1 per leaf - and a week later again at the root.
