A useful scheme that helped us clean the well (the bailer did not help anymore)
Hello everybody! If you do not have a well, and you are not interested in the topic of autonomous water supply, you can safely skip this article and read, for example, this one:
An inexpensive and timeless pool for a no-hassle summer cottage
I want to tell you a method of cleaning a well with my own hands, which I found on the Internet and successfully applied it last year in my country house.
It was necessary to clear the sand from a well 27 meters deep, 110 in diameter. Previously, the balers were repeatedly called, but not a single brigade gave a result. Therefore, a non-standard solution was needed. And it was found.
Here is a diagram that helped us clean the well.
Below I will give comments:
The key element of the whole scheme is A PET bottle without a bottom, which we put on a steel pipe, which, in turn, is inserted into a hose. The far end of the hose is connected to the pump, the pump is lowered into the second well (the water is bad there, we don't use it, but it will go for water hammer).
The bottle is lowered upside down together with the hose into the well, and when it reaches the sandy bottom, the pump is turned on for 15-20 seconds. It supplies water under pressure, the water muddies the sand, and when the pump is turned off, the sand settles in the bottle.
Here's the result - a raised bottle full of sand. In 2 hours, we raised 20 of these. By the end of the work, the well was cleared of sand.
