5 rules for buying and installing laminate flooring. Getting rid of myths and legends about laminate flooring
Friends, I have long wanted to devote an article to laminate. You know, when I look at the customers, I understand that only 20 percent of them understand that laminate is a "magic" building material.
"Magic" material in my construction understanding is an inexpensive material with a service life of 15 years and more, for which you do not need to travel to a neighboring city - it is easy to get and install.
Nevertheless, despite a bunch of strengths of the laminate, it is both loved and disliked by customers and builders.
In this article, I will tell you how to choose a laminate, how much to buy, and how to install it on different types of floors.
How to choose a laminate?
In order for the laminate to be fun (like this girl above), you need to know literally 5 important rules on how to choose a laminate.
Rule 1.
Chasing high quality laminate flooring is utter folly.
For ordinary apartments, 31 or 32 classes are excellent. And only for areas with high traffic (office, corridor, entrance (what if? ) you need a more expensive 33rd grade.
The second rule.
We saved with you on the class, which means we can afford to buy a laminate "with a margin". If your room is rectangular, take 7% more material than its area. If you want to make a diagonal styling, then you need to take 20% more.
If the room has ledges, rounded walls, bay windows, then add about 7% more to the area of the room.
Rule four.
Take your time: before laying the laminate, let the material "lie down" in the room for literally 2-3 days. If your team does not follow this rule, think about its professionalism already at this stage.
The fifth rule
It is better to lay the laminate either parallel to the light source (window) or diagonally to it. With this installation, all seams on the laminate are not chamfered or unsuccessful joints will not be noticeable.
Rule six
Don't forget to tear the laminate around doorways. If you do not do this, then with a high degree of probability, it is in this place that the material will begin to creak in 5-6 months.
Who does not know, a laminate break is a cut of material between rooms. So that each room has its own part of the board.
