Basement waterproofing. I try the easiest and most affordable way in my home.

Dry basement, is it realistic to achieve this? No one will give an exact answer... But I decided on an adventure.

The time has come for the next, important stage.

After eliminating the leaks, it was necessary to "fix the result", namely to apply another continuous layer of waterproofing, which would insure my "spot" repair.

To begin with, it was necessary to put things in order, and it turned out to be a laborious process.

Pumping out and collecting the remaining water is a small part. The main thing is to collect the dirt that was soaking there all summer and turned into some kind of slime ...

The vacuum cleaner, which has the function of collecting liquid dirt, did not help here. Without him, I don't know how I would have dealt with it.

❗ In this case, the main thing is not to be lazy, the more thoroughly you clean everything, the stronger the adhesion of the waterproofing to the surface will be.

The solution itself, I decided to make from simple components.

Cement + water + Liquid glass.

This is a recipe for the simplest waterproofing composition.

The main thing is not to spare glass, on a bucket of solution, I poured such a jar.

Of course, special mixtures with similar characteristics are sold, but the price of the issue is much higher.

Yes, and liquid glass, I already had, therefore, I did not consider other options. 😊

He mixed everything in a bucket, with a drill, with a nozzle. The main thing here is to take into account some points.

✅ First, I mixed water with cement and then added water glass. But for some reason, all the solution immediately grabbed into lumps, which is unrealistic to stir.

In the end, by trial, I realizedthat it is better to mix water with liquid glass, and then gradually add cement to this liquid and mix, bringing to the desired consistency. Everything is mixed evenly.

A particularly thick consistency is not needed, it will be easier to work.

I applied everything with a spatula and a molar roller, wherever it was more convenient.

• First one layer went in a circle.
• Then immediately, on top of another. While making a circle, the first layer had time to pick up.

The process is pretty straightforward, especially if beauty doesn't matter. 😁
