Pouring concrete into water π€·ββοΈ. What result did I get when building a septic tank with my own hands.
This is probably the most difficult stage in the construction of my septic tank. And the difficulty was that the result could be completely unpredictable.
For everyone who has not seen the beginning of this "epic", read here:
Formwork for a septic tank. I thought I had made the most reliable structure, but again I miscalculated. I am telling you the nuances.
Either the formwork is weak, or the hands are in the wrong place. How I poured my concrete septic tank, and saved everything from destruction.
The neighbors thought I was building a pool, but it turned out to be a toilet π€£. I removed the formwork from the septic tank, and carefully examined this miracle.
Bury my homemade septic tank. Water, quicksand and working with one shovel. How did I deal with this?
Do-it-yourself concrete bottom, on quicksand. I am doing preparatory work in an extreme mode.
Now the main experiment begins.
When there is a constant flow of water, it is unrealistic to pour concrete, the first time, and with one more hand. So I had to act in several stages, and, as always, according to the situation.
To start, on the bottom of my septic tank, I laid a film. At least a little, but it will help the cement to wash out as little as possible from the concrete.
Next came main fill stage.
I mixed the concrete very thick, with the addition of liquid glass. I filled the entire surface at the bottom with this compound, but only 50 mm thick. it turned out that the armature was still open.
And left everything until the next day. Of course, in a day, the septic tank was completely filled with water, through the cracks between the bottom and the walls.
β But the main thing is that all the concrete that I poured has hardened. And it turns out that water did not come from the entire surface, but only along the perimeter, through small cracks.
Now it was necessary to eliminate them.
I started this process, using the same cement, with liquid glass. Gradually passing along the perimeter, I repaired all the leaks, reducing their number.
But all this lasted until the largest and most powerful leaks remained. And here it was already necessary to use special means.
I have already used this "hydraulic seal" when waterproofing the basement in the house itself (read about it here).
β It is a fast-setting compound that hardens in a few seconds. And only he helped me remove large leaks.
In the last step, I poured another layer of concrete over the entire surface.
But I honestly admit that a perfectly sealed surface did not work out.
I also tried to close up some micro leaks, which gave small puddles in a few days.
But then I realized that it was simply not necessary.
When the septic tank starts to function, the bottom will silt up anyway, and most importantly, nothing will come out.
This is how the most difficult stage was completed, but there was still a lot of work with the septic tank ...
