Pouring the concrete cover of the septic tank. What formwork can withstand such a load?

The reliability of any formwork matters, especially if the concrete is to be poured "in the air".

The concrete box is ready and coated with waterproofing. Now it's time to cover all this with a lid, of course also concrete.

And here you can't make mistakes... I don’t want to somehow in a few years, walking around the yard, fall into a container with sewage, albeit with our own 😂.

Although nothing supernatural needs to be done.

Of course, the option with some kind of factory concrete structure is more reliable, but no self-respecting self-builder will allow himself this... 😎

So we do everything according to the standard:

• The basis of the steel was boards 100 by 25 mm, which were supported from below with the same supports.

• OSB was laid on top of this lattice. After pouring the concrete, it will remain there, and I will remove the supports.

The next step was to equip passages to the septic tank compartments.

This work required a special approach. Everything is described in detail in this article.

The slab sides were made of the same OSB and sprinkled with sand. With a wall height of 120-150 mm, more is not needed.

Only then, the film was laid, and the reinforcement went.

All metal remains were used for reinforcement. The rods are 10 mm, and the mesh size is about 250 by 250 mm.

I placed it on stands with a height of 45 mm, which were left from the foundation for the house, and everything cannot end.

Given that the dimensions, so to speak, spans 1.8 by 2.3 m, then such a reinforcement and a layer of concrete of 120 mm will be sufficient. The whiter is that cars will not drive from above, and you only need to keep your weight and soil ...

The concrete was poured successfully.

✅ Here, we can say that concrete is poured in the air, and several supports hold it from below. But in fact, everything turned out to be much easier than with the filling of the walls.

Multiple supports did not help there, and concrete leaks had to be urgently eliminated. How I was having fun read in this article.
