A friend advised to unscrew the broken light bulb with potatoes. Checking if this strange life hack works or not
Once we were at a friend's dacha and broke a light bulb in a carrier. Now, he says, I’ll bring the potato, we’ll get the base carefully. While he went to get potatoes, I did everything without any adaptations.
When I found out exactly how he was going to use the tuber, I thought that this was complete nonsense and had no practical application in life. Time passed and this life hack came in handy for me. Let's check if it works or not.
A few words about how I pulled the base out of the cartridge that day without any tools.
Of course, it is not safe to twist the base with your bare hands. You still need to make an effort. At this point, it is easy to cut yourself on the protruding sharp edges. But there is one trick.
The base is hard to unscrew due to the fact that it is spring-loaded from below and from the side with contacts. To remove this "interference", I disassemble the cartridge - I unscrew its upper part. After that, the base of the light bulb is very easily unscrewed by hand.
Putting the cartridge back - ready. The only pity is that this method does not work with table lamps and the vast majority of chandeliers.
Actually, I have never had any broken light bulbs in my chandeliers (until today). They usually burn out rather than break. It was only a couple of times it just burned out and the base fell out.
In such cases, I unscrew the base from the electric cartridge with pliers with narrow jaws. There were never any problems.
Today there was a reason to try a life hack for twisting the base with potatoes - the penultimate fluorescent lamp in the house burned out, or rather scattered. She stood in a narrow shade. The only way to unscrew is to remove the glass. Or take potatoes. Let's try.
Excuse me, I will not bother with cameras and potatoes under the ceiling - I will show you the essence with the example of unscrewing from the cartridge on the table. It will be even clearer.
Cut the potato in half. We select one to fit into the ceiling and somehow could be held.
To tell the truth, I was sure that the sharp edges of the base would gut all the "meat" from the potatoes and nothing would come off.
But no. It turns out that vegetables can also be used for electrical repairs. It is unlikely, of course, that it will be useful to me someday. But for general development, I will leave this method in the store of useful ideas.
That's all for me today. If the material was useful to you, do not forget about the "thumbs up" 👍. Subscribe to the channel here.
