Friends, greetings to everyone. Today is an article in the series: "What happened to that, after so much time". The third year of my self-construction is already coming to an end and the experience of my house is slowly accumulating.

Today we are reviewing the roof.

I climbed on it not for revision, but to finish some points (I will definitely write about this separately). And whether you want it or not, you begin to consider everything in detail and look for flaws that could appear over time.

And of course, the first thing you want to pay attention to is the roofing screws.

When installing metal tiles, I used not the cheapest.

But I didn't know for sure whether this was the best option or not.

A year has passed, some conclusions can be drawn.

✅ During this time, something is unlikely to happen to the gasket, but you can check the tightness of the fastening.

The lathing on which the metal tile was mounted, was very raw. In addition to natural humidity, weather conditions, in the form of rain and snow, added dampness.

In this case, many say that they will have to tighten the screws, due to the drying out and shrinkage of the tree. But I did not find anything of the kind.

• The lathing has definitely dried out in a year.
• At the same time, the metal is still tightly pressed against it, and does not walk at all.

Perhaps it all depends on where to turn the screws?

I did everything according to the rules, and I drilled under the wave, where there is a full fit of the metal tile to the crate. And therefore, the drying of the wood has a minimal effect on the density of the fastening. Or has not enough time passed yet?
