What is the difference between GCR and GVL?
Plasterboard and gypsum fiber sheets Are popular methods of interior decoration. Both materials are practical and easy to use. They allow you to finish faster and cleaner. GKL and GVL significantly reduce the total cost of finishing work, while saving not only money, but also time. I like working with both material, but there are differences between them, which I will talk about now.
To begin with, the sheets differ in composition. Drywall is a material made of three layers - an inner layer of gypsum (usually with impurities), covered with cardboard on both sides. That is, drywall looks like a "sandwich", where a layer of gypsum is located between two cardboard sheets.
Gypsum fiber also contains gypsum. But it is mixed with cellulose fibers. Unlike drywall, gypsum fiber does not have a layered, but a homogeneous consistency.
Differences in composition give the materials special properties:
· Drywall is more flexible and flexible material. It should be used in the design of structures of complex and unusual shapes. Cellulose fibers in gypsum fiber sheets perform the function of reinforcement. Therefore, GVL is a more rigid and durable material. During operation, gypsum fiber will be able to withstand greater mechanical stress than drywall.
· The composition also affects the weight of the material.. Sheets of gypsum fiber and drywall with the same dimensions will differ in weight, gypsum fiber board is about 1.5 times heavier.
· Drywallis perhaps more convenient. No special power tools are needed to cut it. It is easy to cut, easy to assemble. With gypsum fiber, these works are more difficult.
· Classic standard drywall sheets are not resistant to moisture and temperature extremes. There are modifications with a moisture resistant coating. But with too much exposure to water, even they can deform. Gypsum fiber can withstand such influences - moisture, frost, and temperature extremes. Therefore, GVL are used not only for interior decoration, but also for exterior facade decoration.
· Materials differ in the degree of flammability. On contact with fire, the cardboard on the plasterboard sheets will burn, and the inner gypsum layer will crumble. Gypsum fiber material allowed for use in conditions of potentially high fire hazard. GVL - heat-resistant and non-flammable.
· The cost of materials also differs. Gypsum fiber is much more expensive due to its composition and strength characteristics.
These are the differences between GVL and GCR. It cannot be said that one material is better or worse than the other. Each of them has its own characteristics and characteristics, therefore, their area of use is different.
