Sharpening a cutter for the manufacture of panels. Sharpening result
In a recent publication, I talked about cutters for making facades. You can see here.
The profile cutters proved to be excellent, but when I was milling the panels, I noticed that this large cutter was somewhat difficult to cope with the oak and there were burns on the ends. Although they were fairly easy to grind off, something was wrong here.
I decided to check the sharpening of the cutter.
I started dressing with a diamond bar and found noticeable dips on the cutter knives. And it was on both knives.
Sharpening continued until the plane was completely aligned.
And of course you need to check how everything turned out. I milled on a test piece from the end. Made three passes.
Subjectively, milling has become much easier. The burn on the oak still turned out, but only where there was a knot, and the rest of the surface turned out to be clean.
The result of the editing turned out to be differently better than the original sharpening.
For greater clarity, I also suggest watching a video clip.
Thanks for reading. I would be glad to have your support in the form of a like and a subscription to the channel. And see other publications on the channel.
