Additional income for a hobby. I share my experience

Greetings.

On the channel, I often talk about my hobby - sawing with a jigsaw. This hobby also brings me a small income.

From time to time they order 3D puzzles from me.

I send these things only within Russia. And even started a shop at the Crafts Fair. Who is interested may be curious - link to the store.

This hobby also brings me a small regular income, but already on another Internet site - Etsy

At first there was a failure

I found out about this site in 2016 and decided to try to make a store there.

I designed the store, took a photo of the Dolphin 3D puzzle, placed the goods and waited.

4 months have passed. Dolphin was watched by as many as nine people and of course no one bought it.

I was disappointed and forgot about this site for a long time.

Then the result came

Later, I decided to return to this site with a digital product. These were templates (drawings) for cutting decorative baskets, puzzles, 3D puzzles.

To better understand how to work on this site, I even bought the book "Etsy Seller Handbook" on the site Proetsy

This is how my store looks like on Etsi.

Now this site brings in a small and regular income. Below is a screenshot of statistics for the current month (August 2020)

The amount is, of course, small and I get significantly less on hand. You need to return 5% of sales to Etsi, plus the payment for the placement of the goods ($ 0.24), plus VAT tax (in Russian it is like VAT), which is valid for some countries and also the PayPal commission. The balance will turn out - specifically for August - about $ 65

There is another nuance here - after each sale, the product must be placed again and pay $ 0.24 for 4 months of placement. You can set up automatic posting after purchasing an item. This is very convenient for digital products.

The plus is that the product is digital and can be bought many times. After payment, the buyer receives a link to download the drawings.

In my case, I check all the prepared drawings. That is, I make products on them and correct any shortcomings that may arise.

But there are other types of digital goods that buy well. These are prints, stickers, drawings, embroidery patterns. It also offers files for laser cutting, for CNC machines.

I devote a little time to my shop on Esti and there are only 40 templates there now.

The truth is what it strives for. I have met sellers, specifically in the field of cutting templates, who make 100-300 purchases per month, which is already a good income.
