Professional jigsaw machine. Detailed overview
Greetings.
Finally I got myself a professional jigsaw in my workshop.
Prior to that, he worked for more than five years on a homemade wood machine.
This is the JET JWSS-18B machine. The model is pretty new. To some extent, this is the younger brother of the earlier model JWSS-22B.
The machine uses a parallelogram mechanism to transmit the motion of the saw. Better or worse than the mechanism with parallel rods I will not undertake to judge, and this is not the most interesting thing in this machine.
The more interesting point is how the files are attached.
The machine comes with three lower file attachments. One is installed immediately in the machine, but the other two need to be prepared a little for use.
On one side of this mount there is a lamb, in the center there is a hole for clamping the file, and on the second end there is a hexagon screw, which must be tightened so that the file is installed in the center holes. The easiest way to see how much you need to twist is through the light.
And it is very simple to install the file in the lower mount: the file is inserted into the mounting hole, slightly tightened with a thumbscrew and tightened in a special mount that is on both sides of the machine.
Then you can even put this fastener into the machine with one hand, because there are a pair of neodymium magnets on the lower shaft that help to position the mount. (By the way, this is one of the novelties of this model)
And in the upper clamp, the file is installed literally in one movement and immediately with the desired tension.
The degree of tension is adjusted with a knob at the base of the machine.
The machine has an adjustable workpiece clamping. For some, it may turn out to be an indispensable assistant when cutting, but for a long time I got used to holding the workpiece with my hands, so after trying it, I immediately took it off.
With regard to turning on the machine. There is a power button on the top frame, located just behind the speed control. A magnetic starter is installed above the motor for the main switching on of the machine.
On this machine, you can cut at an angle and this function is implemented so that the table remains horizontal and the frame with the motor tilts. The tilt can be done in both directions. In one direction, the maximum angle of inclination is 45 °, andto another 35 °, since the turning handle rests against the vacuum cleaner connection.
The machine can be used as a "portable" desktop version, and rigidly fixed on a separate base. For this, the kit includes adjustable feet, as well as rubber washers to reduce vibration when stationary.
This machine has one more feature - the pendulum saw motion. By turning the motor, you can adjust the range of motion of the saw back and forth and thus change the cutting aggressiveness.
To do this, loosen three screws securing the engine, the engine turns, the screws are tightened. If you need to turn the motor to a greater angle, then there are additional holes for screws on the body.
Thus, the pendulum stroke can be adjusted from 0 to maximum. What this maximum did not exactly check, but the amplitude of movement of the file back and forth was more than 1 mm.
As for the work on this machine. You can saw on it immediately, taking it out of the box. Put the file down and forward.
It is good and comfortable to work with both thin and thick materials.
According to the documentation, the maximum cutting depth is 48 mm. Indeed, when the clamp is set, the workpiece will not pass more than this size. But with the clamp removed, the size of the workpiece can be up to 70 mm.
Of course, with such a thickness of the workpieces, the machine will cut slowly.
Another point I tested was how shapes are cut in thick blanks. Since I cut out 3D puzzles, it is important for me that the parts of such puzzles come out even, so that a cylinder is obtained, not a cone, and the part of the puzzle easily passes in both directions.
And that is not all. The machine has the ability to raise and fix the upper rod. This is very convenient when cutting complex patterns, when there are many holes in the workpiece, into which you need to rearrange the file.
Along with the fact that the file can be fastened and pulled in just one movement, it becomes much faster and more convenient to cut out complex patterns.
The force of lifting and fixing the rod is adjusted by a screw with a lock nut, which are located on the left of the machine body. This screw essentially just presses the bar down, acting as a kind of brake.
I bought this machine for 60 thousand rubles. And since I cut a lot, make products to order, good productivity and ease of use are important to me and I am very pleased with this purchase.
For a more detailed examination of this machine, in order to listen and see how it cuts, I suggest watching the video clip below.
