The girl created a work of art from an old table found in a junkyard
“Old, big-eyed friend” - that's how the girl called the old table-pedestal, which she had long wanted to remake.
She found him in a junkyard and brought him home from there. Of course, not because she has nothing to buy a normal meal. She's just an aspiring master decorator and creates chic things for a modern interior from old furniture and things. This is a hobby, and very interesting, and also very rewarding.
This is how the table was found on the street:
The view, to put it mildly, is not very good. The table is old, shabby, although it is clear that the base is intact, solid. He has the potential.
First, the girl thoroughly washed it, disinfected it. For some time he stood in the room and waited in the wings. And now, catching inspiration, the master took up repainting.
In her blog, the girl describes in detail the process, as well as all the financial costs for such a rework:
“I tried to calculate how much the whole work cost, but I decided to do with a detailed miscalculation based on the materials mathematics is not my strong point 🤷🏻♀️⠀
⠀
So let's see: ⠀
🔷 The table itself did not cost anything, except the cost of calories for transportation from the trash heap - 0 rubles. ⠀
🔷 I washed it with detergent (how much does a Fairy drop cost?), Let it be - 1 rub. ⠀
🔷 I went through with a rough sandpaper - P150 and cleaned out all the remnants of the past. Sheet of 40 rubles. It took me 1/2 - 20 rubles. ⠀
🔷 Putty cracks and holes. I have a jar of VGT 0.3 / 60 rubles. It took quite a bit, let it be 15 rubles more.
🔷 I primed the inside of the table with acrylic building paint. I have a Profilux bucket 11kg -347 rubles. ⠀
Those. 1kg -31.55 rubles. I have problems with the specific gravity and the conversion of grams to ml 🤣.. Even roughly, it took 20 ml... how much is it in rubles - 1 rub? 🙄».
“🔷Replaced the slats at the table top. I used a shockproof plinth - 161 rubles. ⠀
🔷 I glued the skirting board on liquid nails from the "fixed price" 77 rubles / tube. 1/3 left - 26 rubles ⠀
🔷 Painting the table itself. 100 ml of white acrylic paint + 1 lb of alabaster + grated chalk + blue color scheme + black paint. ⠀
At this stage, it became very difficult to calculate: ⠀
Paint 100 ml - 3.5 rubles. ⠀
Alabaster 1 kg package 40 rubles / 1 tablespoon 26gr - again 1 rubles? ⠀
White chalk (dad gave me) ⠀
If you believe the Internet 1kg - 15 rubles. (Approximately) I don't even want to count).. - 1 rub. ⠀
Blue color 30 rubles per bottle, approx... another 5-10 rubles. ⠀
Black acrylic paint (from an old children's kit) -20 rubles. ⠀
By the way, there is a post about chalk paint in the tape, namely how to knead it yourself. "
⠀
Speed up a little ⠀
🔷Stencil for the pattern -70 rubles. ⠀
🔷Potal for gilding 180 rubles (almost all went) ⠀
🔷Glue for potal 200 rubles / jar, it took 2 rubles
🔷Tsapon varnish for covering gilding -150 rubles / 0.5. It took 10 rubles .⠀
🔷 Matte finish varnish 170 rubles. ⠀
⠀
Brushes, rags, bags and tools - I will not count. If you just stop at the brush... ⠀
⠀
🔷 Synthetic brush (I have an old one) from 150 rubles and up ♾)) ⠀
⠀ Ie you see, the process is not that expensive) ”.
As you can see, it was not just a repainting, but a more global work with small restoration of chips, cracks and the application of beautiful patterns.
This is such a stunning table as a result of the rework:
Agree that a handsome man?
It can be used as a sideboard, coffee table or just a decoration of a modern interior. Looking at him, no one will say that not so long ago this furniture was lying in a landfill and could only attract the attention of a real artist.
The master is a real good fellow, who was not too lazy and remade the thing!
How do you like this alteration of the table? Did you like the result?
