Unusual country table made of cement

click fraud protection

Hello again, gentlemen, homemade products. Today we will make a country table out of cement and old bicycle tires. It can be used both for eating and as a flower stand. I dug up the idea from a foreign source and I'll say right away that the quality of performance leaves much to be desired. Therefore, further I will comment as is and add my own notes. And of course I look forward to your feedback on the usefulness of homemade products.

In our case, 4 tires are used, one of which is larger than the others and is used as the basis for the table.

Three pieces of plastic pipe are used as racks for countertops. Diameter and height are selected at your discretion.

The following shows the markup process. All elements are installed as in the photo. On the upper big tire we make notes - the location of the racks. The pipes themselves should be located as much as possible in the center of the small wheels. Then you will understand why this is so.

Now we use each wheel as a mold for pouring cement inside. Here the author installed pieces of brick in the tire so that the cement easily entered the inner cavity of the tire.

Next, we begin to pour the cement. Here the author used a metal mesh as reinforcement. The idea is so-so)) I would use a mesh-netting as a reinforcing base or simply cut metal rods that would put a cross on a cross in a tire.

We fill it all with cement. Using a trowel, push the solution into the cavity of the tire.

After pouring, the author inserts electrodes curved with the letter G into the solution, inserts exactly in those places where there are marks for the stands on the tire. The electrodes serve as reinforcement in the base for the racks, although rather weak in my opinion.

Now we install the pipes and embed them in the cement.

The pipes are also filled with cement. Only here you need to fill the pipes by about half or a little more. Do not fill to the very top.

Now we carry out a similar procedure with small tires that will act as tabletops.

Here, too, the author puts a piece of metal mesh.

Until the mortar has hardened, the author installs again a shard of brick, which will serve as a guide when fixing the tabletop to the counter. Here it is important to set the guide clearly in the right place.

After the solution has solidified, remove all excess solution from the front of the countertop.

It's time to install the countertops. We fill the pipes with the solution to the end.

We install the countertops by immersing our brick in the mortar.

The idea with a piece of brick certainly has a place to be, but the strength of such a connection is in doubt. If suddenly this table falls or even just put it on its side, then the brick will simply break off under its own weight. In general, here you need to apply something stronger. I would use rebar or, as a last resort, a piece of pipe with a smaller diameter.

If used as a table for flower pots, as a decor for a plot, then I would make racks of different heights. It would be prettier, besides, the same size of the racks limits the size of the countertops.

This is the kind of table we end up with. For special aesthetics, the surface of the countertops can be treated with a large leg.

We prime the whole thing and paint at our discretion. I would paint with acrylic based paint.

The table is ready. As I said, the quality of workmanship is very lame, the strength of the structure based on bricks also raises strong concerns. But the idea itself is quite worthy.

That's all. Your comments on usefulness and design improvements are welcome.

And you were Mikhalych, all peace and kindness. Subscribe and do not miss new homemade products.
