Drill stand from old spare parts

I welcome regular readers and guests of the channel. Today we will make a drilling machine from a conventional drill and old car parts. The homemade product was sent by one of my readers and I found it very interesting, which means we need to make a review and submit it to your fair trial.

What is required?

An old flywheel is used as a bed. Two shock absorbers. Two connecting rods from the internal combustion engine. Two springs. In this case, springs from the belt tensioning mechanism of the Audi car are used. You can use any other springs that are slightly larger in inner diameter than the outer diameter of the stems from the rack.

You also need a welding machine, angle grinder with a cutting disc, two arms and a head)))

The first step is to remove the stems from the rack. To do this, we cut off the upper part of the rack cylinder with a grinder. The mode is not deep so as not to damage the stem.

This is what the slice looks like. Then we take out the stock, and throw the rest of the rack onto ferrous metal.

This is how the stocks themselves look. The lower large threaded stud will be useful to us further in the work.

Next, we need to make two symmetrical through holes in the flywheel, into which we will screw our rods. For one hole, you can use any hole in the flywheel, just drill it to the size of the stud. Well, the second hole needs to be drilled from scratch.

We cut a thread in the holes, which should naturally match the thread on the rod studs. Of course, you can simply weld the rods to the flywheel and do the extra work, but then the structure will not be collapsible.

Next, cut off the upper neck from the connecting rods. Here, before cutting, take measurements first so that your pistons end up as in the next photo.

This is what an almost finished design looks like. Here the essence is already clear and now we need to weld the connecting rods to the bushings, as shown in the photo.

Next, paint our flywheel and other parts (except for the rods) black. In the place indicated in the photo, you need to insert a wooden base.

We cut it out of a regular board, since this base will quickly deteriorate. Better yet, cut out several pieces at once.

Let's start assembling our drill stand. First of all, we screw the rods into the holes made and put on the springs.

Next, we put on the connecting rods, which now play the role of holders for the drill. We install a wooden grandmother.

That's all, install the drill and the machine is ready to go.

There is an important feature here. The springs are in two parts. If you need to drill a small part, then the author removes the halves of the springs, since it will be difficult to squeeze them all out.

If the part is large, then additional springs are installed and the drill rises higher.

What can you add? Respect to the author for the homemade product, it turned out to be a very decent and durable contraption with the possibility of further modernization.
