Gel for removing old nail polish from furniture

Last year, I was faced with the task of restoring a small Soviet nightstand. Her appearance was rather deplorable. Around only scratches and small chips pushed me to throw it away and buy a new one, but it was decided to keep it.

Perhaps the hardest part of restoration is removing the old varnish. As we know, in Soviet times, everything was done conscientiously and, accordingly, no one regretted the varnish. In this regard, the thickness of the varnished coating was significant and it is very difficult to remove it with a conventional spatula.

It's good that we live in a high-tech world and now it is easy to find an effective remedy for this procedure. I used a special wash-off gel, which is able to penetrate into the thickness of the old varnish and peel it off the surface.

How it works? Apply this gel with a brush over the entire surface and wait twenty minutes. After that, we carefully go through with an ordinary spatula and the varnish is easily peeled off the furniture.

The cost of such gels is very different, it all depends on the country of origin and capacity. For example, I bought a homemade wash for 410 rubles. It took only two cans.

I heard from a friend that there is a German version and, by the way, it is more effective, but its price is not at all comforting - around 1600 rubles, which I consider quite expensive.

Before use, you should wear protective gloves and a respirator, since the gel is very caustic and smells very unpleasant. In general, the thing is very reliable and effective.
