Do not throw away the burnt-out angle grinder, make a drill attachment

Hello again, dear home-made and home-made women. In your fair trial, another device made from an old burnt-out angle grinder, which, in my opinion, seemed interesting and worthy of your attention.

We proceed to disassemble the angle grinder. We need to remove and discard everything that is not related to the gearhead. In most designs, the rotor shaft is pressed into a bearing in the gearbox housing and is integral with it.

We need to cut the rotor from the shaft at the very base of the beginning of the winding, then remove the cooling fan. There can be a copper or plastic bushing on the rotor shaft, we also remove it.

This is the kind of thing you should end up with.

Next, you need to make such a metal ring with two ears. We will fix it in the place of the drill where the handle is usually attached.

While we install the ring on the drill and clamp it with a bolt and nut.

In our case, a screwdriver is used with a Li-Ion battery, powerful enough for such a nozzle. The essence of the device is to replace the burnt out motor of the angle grinder and give the gearbox torque from the screwdriver. We fix the gearbox shaft in the chuck and everything works. Now we need to beautifully formalize and consolidate this matter.

We take a metal plate and make 4 pieces of it, 12 cm each. The sizes can be individual for everyone.

At one end of each plate we drill a hole for its attachment to the gearbox. For aesthetics, the edges of the plate can be rounded as shown.

Next, we attach the plates to the gearbox in the same way as in the photo. For fastening, we use already prepared holes in the gearbox. You just need to pick up the bolts.

Now we bend the plates in the direction from the gearbox as shown in the photo.

Next, we again clamp the gearbox in the chuck and try on the plates to the metal ring. Subsequently, they need to be welded to this ring.

You will end up with this nozzle.

We clamp the gearbox in the chuck, clamp the pressure ring on the screwdriver and the nozzle is ready for use.

For safety, you can attach a protective cover from the same old grinder. We cut off its native mount from the casing and weld a metal eyelet with a hole as in the photo. The protective cover is secured in place using a handle with a hairpin that comes with the grinder.

Such a device is obtained in full assembly with a protective casing and a handle.

The photo shows a cutting disc for wood, but I would not risk it. In addition, not every screwdriver will pull this. It is quite possible to use a drill, or you can even use a hammer drill.

In general, the idea is good in my opinion and it has a place to be. Only now the performance turned out to be flimsy. The plates need to be taken thicker, it is better to use a drill for work.
