We update the upholstery of chairs step by step. All secrets
Not so long ago there was a postabout hauling chairs, now we are expanding the experience even more, taking into account various nuances. As you can see, the updated sample (the first of the four) is pretty tattered with life and begs to be thrown, but still I will try to help it to keep it alive.
He completely gutted the seat, removed all the staples from the tree and cleaned it from decayed and compressed foam rubber, partially turned into sand, which was constantly falling under the chair. At first I wanted to change the shock absorbing rubber, but it turned out to be quite good, although there are small cracks on it on the lower side.
The foam rubber on the first of the 4 chairs was first cut out slightly larger than the frame, by 2-3 cm somewhere, but later I realized that because of this, when stretching, irregularities appear at the ends. On the second chair, the foam is cut exactly along the seat frame (photo 3). Well, the upholstery is taken with a margin of about 5 cm on each side.
I start to nail the fabric from either side, but I can't reach the corners with a stapler a little, since I will wrap the corners and nail at the very end. Staple length in stapler 8 mm. This is the best option. Last time I used staples 6 mm, but these are more convenient, since they better fix the fabric at the corners, where it has to be laid in layers.
After nailing one side, I switch to the opposite so that the upholstery tension is even.
Now evaluate the difference, with the state before the constriction. I like it and it is very comfortable to sit. I haven't hemmed the back yet, maybe I'll do it later, as I find a suitable piece of light fabric. Let it stand for a while. How do you end up?
