Breakage in the lock larvae (cylinder or pith) always unexpected and at the wrong time. But if you know how to replace it, then the problem is solved in a matter of minutes. With a new cylinder, of course. Yes, and it is attached very, very easy, only you need to understand what and where to turn.

If the larva is jammed when the door is open, then you can get it out with the key.

For work, you only need a screwdriver, but a flat or cross-shaped one depends on the lock model.

In my example, I need a flathead screwdriver. At the end of the door I find a screw that secures the larva and holds it in a fixed position. This screw is usually located at the bottom of the lock, but above the screws that secure the lock itself. It is always located opposite the larva, sincescrewed right into it.

Why the tank is leaking and how to fix it
How to choose and replace a handle on a plastic window yourself
Non-standard wire twisting. Excellent contact and strength

I pull out the unscrewed screw from the hole so that it does not dangle and interfere. You don't need to twist anything else. It is also not necessary to remove the handle with the decorative cover. It remains only to lightly press on the larva from either side and, as a rule, it should calmly exit.

For convenience, you can insert the key and push the unscrewed core with it.

Each larva has a rotatable axis uvula. In the picture, it is in the middle and dark. When pulling it out of the lock, the tongue must stand down; for this, the inserted key must be turned vertically. In another position, the larva cannot be pulled out, since the tongue will lock.

Now we take a new core, put it in the lock, set it in the center and fasten it with a screw. Even if the larva is one-sided, then we try to put it so that the screw holes on the larva and at the end of the lock are approximately on the same axis.

Since the larvae are different, when buying a new one, it is better to keep the old one with you and look for an analogue.

Getting the screw into the hole of the larva when replacing is perhaps the most difficult task of all that needs to be done. But it is also resolved rather quickly. We turn the screw and you're done! And, we also check the new larva with a key and praise ourselves for successful work.
