I threw out the corrugation under the sink, put the pipe 50 mm. There is a tricky connection

The decision to replace the corrugation under the sink with a smooth pipe was caused by accumulation of dirt in the accordion and a gradual slowdown in the flow in the corrugation itself and throughout the entire sewage system. Because of this, grease also accumulates in the pipes. I already did half a year ago siphon cleaning and a flexible pipe, but now there are a lot of deposits on it again, so I put a plastic assembly from scraps PVC pipes 50 mm. At the same time, the installation has one little difficulty.

I do not focus on the assembly of pipes and a set of fittings, since in each case there are differences. I will only note that separately bought a 45 degree knee,to mount the transition from the siphon flask to the sewer. And here is the most interesting thing, because the diameter of the bell on the knee is 50 mm, and the outlet from the flask is somewhere 45 mm and the seal in the socket, when connected, does not provide the desired tightness.

Along the way I performed connection of scraps of plastic pipes without sockets by heating (see. See a separate article and video link).

To resolve the issue of different diameters, I do this:

  • I pull out the seal in the knee socket by 45 g and I put it the other way aroundback out;
  • I take another ring of the same and put it on the tapered edge of the bell in front of the first ring with the back inward, and the tapered part outward (photo 3a).
  • I push the second ring onto dry and straighten both rings well, as a result, they rest against each other with their backs and sit very tightly (photo 3b).

True, the second seal comes in with difficulty, but it does. It is good if it is new, since the used ear is already stretched and is unlikely to fit. Even if he enters, he will be chewed during installation. In this way, it turns out to slightly reduce the diameter and tightly connect the flask to the pipe. It is better to do this as if screwing along the thread, lubricating the seals and the flask with detergent.

This connection requires good effort, so it is best to make it before placing the flask on the sink.

It remains to fit the rest of the pipes and connect them to the socket, which included the corrugation. Well, the flask must be properly put in place, making sure that the seal ring went into her with a thin part(photo 5) and only then tighten the nut.

Complete assembly, leak tested.

If water still drips at the junction of the flask and the pipe, which sometimes happens, then, as an option, you can wind up a little FUM tape on the flask thread and cover it with a sealant. This is how you can solve the issue with the corrugation and forget about the clogging of the sewer. What do you think?
