Why pour sunflower oil into the sink?
When vacation time comes, most of the townspeople go on vacation and leave their apartments.
Some people ask to take care of their neighbors or relatives' houseplants.
But in most cases, the living space is empty: no one uses water or gas.
As a result, the water in sinks, toilets and bathrooms dries up and your apartment is filled with unpleasant odors rising from the sewers.
Why is this happening?
Everything is very simple: when water flows into the sewer holes regularly, a kind of a plug, which is called a water seal, which prevents the penetration of unpleasant odors into the residential room.
But it is worth not using water for at least a week, especially in summer, as the protective water plug disappears.
How to deal with this problem?
Again, everything is elementary simple: pour literally a few drops of vegetable oil into the drain holes so that a film forms on the surface of the water.
It will not allow water to evaporate and prevent odors from entering the apartment.
A plumber shared this useful and simple advice with us.
Now, leaving home for several days, we pour vegetable oil into the sink, toilet and bathroom.
After returning to the apartment, it is enough just to start up the water, which will easily wash off the oil film.
