How to take care of Honeysuckle in the fall to get a Bumper Harvest next year
Honeysuckle is a real decoration of any garden. Plus, this shrub can be your pride if properly cared for.
The plant does not require special care and responds gratefully to the slightest care from a person. To get an excellent harvest, I pay special attention to caring for the shrub in the summer and autumn.
Plant feeding
After harvesting the honeysuckle, which usually occurs in May-June, it is important to take care of feeding the shrub. You can prepare a nutrient solution for adult bushes by diluting 15 g of superphosphate and the same amount of potassium sulfide in 10 liters of pure water.
For one bush of honeysuckle, it takes me about 4 liters of solution. If your garden is located on a rather poor soil, then feeding is recommended not only in summer, but also at the end of October.
With proper feeding, the plants will be strong enough, and the harvest will delight with its abundance.
Watering features
In order for honeysuckle bushes to be strong and healthy, they must not be deficient in moisture. The condition of the ground near the trunk should be closely monitored throughout the summer season.
Do not let it dry out, but you should also not overfill the bush with water. Keep the soil moist. To do this, water the honeysuckle with plain water.
It is worth spending no more than 2.5 buckets of liquid on watering one bush of a garden plant.
Preparing the shrub for the winter
Honeysuckle is a frost-resistant and hardy culture that is not afraid of winter frosts. However, if there is a lot of snow on the territory of the garden, then the branches of the bush may break.
To avoid unpleasant consequences, I pay special attention to the preparation of honeysuckle bushes for the winter season.
He needs:
1. Pruning. During or after the leaf shedding period, the honeysuckle bushes should be pruned. This procedure is necessary so that the bush does not thicken and does not lose yield.
2. Garter. In late autumn, I pull the branches of the honeysuckle together and secure them with a rope. This will help avoid kinking under the weight of the snow cover.
Shelter of bushes for the winter is not required. Honeysuckle is an unpretentious garden culture.
However, for the creation of optimal conditions for growth and little attention from the owners, she will certainly thank you next year with a bountiful harvest of tasty and healthy berries.
