Inexpensive facade made of wooden blocks under artificial stone

Among the original design solutions for interiors, there are such interesting options:

On the English-speaking Internet, they are called: Wood paneling wall or 3D patterns wood wall panel. In general, 3D panels are made of wood bars. From a distance, they look very impressive and original. They resemble a surface made of artificial stone. If you get closer to the surface, it looks like this:

It becomes clear that bars with a torn, chipped edge are used. They are made from first sawn, and then chopped like wood bars. Due to the fact that the bars are of different widths (depths on the wall), a bright 3D effect is obtained.

You can also use non-chipped bars - they also look interesting as a decoration of one of the walls.

The interior of a room or room, which is completely decorated in this way, will be oversaturated. The maximum is to highlight one wall.

It is easy to mount on wooden walls - like a lining without clamps. A bar is nailed with long thin (finishing) nails. Drive the nail diagonally into the upper edge of the bar, which will close with the upper bar. The nail should fit securely into the wall. Apply the top bar (press down on the bottom) and repeat the operation.

If the wall is concrete, then before installing the bars, it is necessary to fix the plywood sheets on the entire plane of the wall. 0.5 cm is sufficient. Fastening plywood to dowels or glue foam. The wall should be flat. And already to nail the bars to the plywood. Bars need to be coated with wood impregnation in the desired tone.

But there is a huge disadvantage to this technique. And this is not the price. This is what dust will accumulate on such a 3D surface. We'll have to constantly delete it. How? It's up to the owner of the room. Perhaps a powerful vacuum cleaner can handle it. But over time, it will be hammered into all the cracks. And they live in the dust, you know who - dust mites, a source of allergies.

If you want to highlight the wall under a tree, you can quickly and inexpensively do this with a laminate. I will show you how this is done in the next article.

But this technology can be used for the exterior decoration of the facade of a building. Here's an example:

It is necessary to chop bars of different thicknesses. Or rather, how it goes. For some reason, the photographs are monitored from top to bottom. And the nails need to be hammered not through the front edge, but, as I described above, through the top diagonally (mounting from the bottom up).

At the bases where sawn timber is made, you can collect trim boards with a thickness of 25 mm. And from them already chop such bars. Those. on occasion, the material can be obtained free of charge, or at the price of firewood. And if you mount such a facade to someone, then, as they say: waste is income. High profitability of work.

For a working day, it is realistic to mount up to 10 m2 of the facade. At a cost for such work: 300-500 m2 for the customer will not be expensive. And the master - an excellent amount of earnings per day.

The surface looks like an artificial stone. The surface can be coated with any color of wood impregnation (glaze). It is better to cover the facade, which will be exposed to atmospheric precipitation, with alkyd impregnations. It will protect the wood more reliably and the facade will be more durable (it will not wash off like water impregnations).

This technique, I think, is perfect for highlighting part of the walls on the facade of frame houses. Such houses are already sheathed with OSB sheets (flat surface). Also suitable for facades on walls in a log house. But you must first seal the seams between the joints.
