Country house with the cost of walls for the price of firewood. Comparison with block walls
If you do not have a task to build a house for permanent year-round living, but you need an inexpensive summer cottage or summer house, then look in the direction of buildings built using the Cordwood technology (Cordwood) or in our clay clay. But you don't need to use clay in the building. We need a cement mortar.
Looks beautiful. What is the cost of the walls and the laboriousness of their construction? Let's figure it out.
I would build like this. The foundation is poured (the best option: a tape of a small section with backfilling and floors on the ground). A frame is installed from a bar or sanded round timber (on a shut-off waterproofing). The wood must be dry and treated with calcium chloride. I'll explain why below.
You can not immediately erect the roof, but in the final. Lay block masonry on the foundation around the perimeter. This will allow you to raise the masonry of the walls made of firewood above the snow level and will protect from capillary moisture coming from the foundation. Prevents wood decay.
The firewood should be dry, aged for 2-3 years, peeled from bark. Beetle larvae start in the bark and it exfoliates over time. And before laying, they also need to be processed in a solution of calcium chloride salt (by immersion and followed by drying).
The masonry will be laid on cement mortar. And it can be destroyed by sugars from wood. The salt will preserve the sugar. This technique is used in the production of wood concrete. If there are longitudinal cracks in the chocks, they need to be split along these cracks. Otherwise, the house will be blown out.
Inside, you can plaster it, this will prevent the house from blowing in the off-season. This will add costs to the cost of the walls.
Interiors of buildings. Part of the walls can be finished with clapboard
The masonry must be done without cold bridges (fixing the logs with layers of mortar inside and outside the masonry). Sawdust, previously soaked in calcium chloride and dried, is poured between the layers of the solution. Or add slaked lime to them and mix. The thickness of the walls is optional, but better than 25 cm wide.
Using whole chocks is not the best option (they are cracked), although more beautiful. Mix the solution in a 1 to 3 ratio (cement - sand). Round timber for the frame can also be bought at the cost of firewood (in the same place as firewood), sanded and dried on the site. Lumber is needed only for the roof.
Firewood cost - from 1500 rubles / m3. In remote villages, you can buy for 1000-1200 rubles / m3. The cost of a solution mixed by hand is 2-2.5 thousand / m3.
My calculation for the solution: 1 bag is 5 incomplete buckets of cement. 1 bucket - 60 rubles. 1 bucket of sand - 10 rubles. (10 m3 - 10,000 rubles. we have). The concrete mixer contains 4 buckets (0.04 m3). Those. one batch - 100 rubles. It turns out, 1 m3 of self-weight concrete 2500 RUB
If the volume of 1m3 of the wall consists of wood and mortar in a ratio of 70/30, then it turns out that the walls have an approximate cost of 1,500 rubles / m3
The cost of salt, calcium chloride is insignificant. For a house 7x7m with a wall thickness of 40 cm. need firewood and mortar in the amount 45-50 thous. rub.
Comparison of cost with walls made of PShchS blocks. From the blocks there will be costs: 1875 rubles / 1m3 + solution. Let's round up to 2000 rubles / m3. This is my calculation.
The reader's calculation for laying walls from blocks: 1 block 20x20x40 costs 25 rubles. There are 10 blocks per 1m2. A maximum of 1 bucket will be spent on 1m2 masonry, from a bag at 1 to 4. Sand - 1000 rubles / m3 - in a cube of 100 buckets or 10 rubles / bucket. Cement - 300 rubles / bag - we count 3 buckets in a bag 300/12 = 25 rubles. Total 1m2 of masonry costs: block 25 * 10 = 250 rubles. Cement 25 rubles. Sand 10 rub. Delivery of a block of 500 pieces - 1000 rubles. or 2 rubles per block. Delivery of cement and sand is included in the price. The total amount is 287 rubles per square meter. For 1m3: 287 * 5 = 1435 RUB
The amounts are comparable. But the blocks are much colder. Imagine 20 cm of hollow concrete and 25 cm of wood. The blocks still need to be delivered. What if it's a remote place? Firewood is offered everywhere. Wooden houses are 100 years old. And here they are treated with salt and concrete, which will suck out moisture.
A country house needs to make a facade from blocks. And the house made of wood is covered with impregnation for wood. But a block house is more durable. What is more convenient for you - choose yourself.
