We will not consider the cases of heating with gas from gasholders and diesel fuel, since the cost of the project and the cost of 1 kW of thermal power per 1 m2 are too high compared to others.

With these figures in mind, gas heating has a very long payback period. Or it should be viewed as a capital investment: paid and forgotten. It turns out that there are options to mount the heating system on electricity and have costs for a certain period even lower than with gas.

The first diagram and a real example. The owner of one house did the following: at the beginning of the construction of the house, he filled in an insulated Swedish plate (USHP), erected a one-story a house of slightly more than 100 m2 made of aerated concrete and heats it with electricity at a cost comparable to the cost of the main gas. How? It uses two-rate electricity.

The logic of the author: he calculated how much 1 kW * h of heat energy costs at the cost obtained from various sources: firewood, the tariff for electricity in the village, the tariff for electricity in SNT and gas. The numbers may differ in different regions.

Estimated the cost of communications:

  • wood-fired boiler with chimney and piping: 210 thous. rub.
  • electric boiler with piping and buffer capacity: 240 thous. rub.
  • gas boiler with chimney and average cost of connecting to the chimney: 560 thous. rub.

If you do everything yourself, the cost will be several times lower. But this will not work with gas. Therefore, he put all the options on an equal footing: everything is assembled by a team of specialists.

Then he calculated the amount of heating costs for 10 years, taking into account the costs of the boiler house itself (and based on the consumption of 20 kW of heat energy for the cold period):

  • firewood: 664 thous. rub.
  • two-tariff electricity in the village: 520 thous. rub.
  • electricity in SNT: 698 thous. rub.
  • gas: 700 thous. rub.

But taking into account the fact that it is necessary to conclude a service contract for gas heating (up to 12 thousand / year), then in 10 years this amount will increase by 120 thousand. rub. In total, gas costs for this period will be up to 820 thous. rub.

Conclusion: if you are offered to connect gas for the amount of 500 thousand. and above - disagree. At this cost, the costs for 10 years will be lower by 300 thous. rub. for electric heating with a two-tariff system (electricity consumption at night) and a buffer tank or with USB or even underfloor heating (10 cm thick concrete screed). And 5-7 years ago it was the opposite.

Another case is if the house is poorly insulated and these 20 thousand kWh / year is small. Or the house is located in Siberia with prolonged severe frosts:

For some, 7-10 thousand. rub. in the winter month for heating with electricity is not so much money. For the countryside, they are huge. But you can insulate the house and start saving money using the night tariff with a buffer tank. Then the cost of electricity can be equal to the cost of coal. Moreover, with winters like this year, electric heating according to this scheme becomes the lowest cost and most convenient.
