Wooden I-beams for do-it-yourself floors: 150 rubles per running meter
The beginning and the manufacturing technology itself is described in this part: Frame house made of wooden I-beams. DIY beams: 150 rubles per running meter
If you are not building a frame house, then this technology can be useful for making your own floor beams in a house with walls made of other materials.
Often, wooden floors are made not only in wooden houses, but also in stone ones. Usually, this is a bar or spliced board. Such overlaps cannot be mounted alone - they are too heavy. And they have a certain value of deflection, trampoline.
To increase the stiffness of the floors and at the same time reduce the weight, a wooden I-beam is used. These beams also have good load-bearing capacity. A large knot will fall into the beam and the bearing capacity decreases.
Characteristics of wooden I-beams. They are made from bars of different sections, OSB sheets or plywood.
Option from bars and plywood. Reinforced I-beam made of two OSB sheets - for large spans from 6 m and more.
Testing of I-beams. It is clear that in a room on the floor you will not have a weight comparable to that of a heavy SUV (~ 2.5t). Another plus - OSB does not rot like wood and is not damaged by pests: ants and larvae do not like the chemistry that holds wood fibers together.
They are also used in the rafter system. Another plus of them is that you can make beams of the height you need - for the required thickness of insulation. A bar or board, as a rule, is 150-200 mm. And such a height is not enough for insulation of floors.
I-beam prices. Start from 200 rubles. m. If you have a house of 10x10 m, then you will need about 400 lm. beams. With a ceiling thickness of 300 m, this is 216 thousand meters. It makes sense to make it yourself. Moreover, as described above, it is not so difficult.
OSB-3 plates 9 mm (2500 * 1250 mm) cost 720 rubles / sheet. From 1 sheet, 5 strips with a height of 250 mm will turn out. 12 r.m. 60 rubles / r.m. Bar - up to 45 rubles / r.m. On both sides - 90 rubles / r.m. Total: 150 rubles / r.m. I-beam, if you do it yourself. Costs: 60 thous. rub. on the floor beams.
For manufacturing, you need a room and a router: manual or stationary. For the reliability of the connection between OSB and the bars - coat with wood glue and punch across with thin nails. The connection must be reliable, OSB must enter the bar with force. A couple of weeks of work and you will save at least 100-150 thousand. rub.
Of course, ordinary lumber can also be used for floors - this may be cheaper in some regions, but also less reliable and the attic floors are colder. Here you decide.
