Why the fixture for welding polypropylene pipes in hard-to-reach places did not work. Idea

I had a real pipe connection experience with limited access, then he simply heated the fitting on gas and put it on for a short length. But, this time I decided to make a simple device that would allow me to crawl with a soldering iron, for this I decided to place the nozzle at the end of the device.

First try

He took a steel plate, bent it with a corner, fixed one edge together with the inner nozzle on the tool body, and the outer one was fixed at the corner, in line with the body.

He turned on the soldering iron, waited for heating and tried to weld the pipe with a nozzle on the plate, but it did not warm up. It needs to be redone.

Second attempt

I realized that on such a long section of the plate, heat is lost, without having time to be transmitted, I decided to shorten it. I cut it off with a grinder, drilled a new hole for fastening and installed it on a new one.

But, even with this arrangement, the temperature for welding on the nozzle could not be obtained. Complete failure, what to do?

New idea

Since sufficient heat is not transferred through the steel plate, and copper and aluminum were not available for testing, it is necessary to fix the nozzle to the end itself.

In theory, it is enough to cut off part of the soldering iron spout, drill and cut the thread for the screw, and fix the nozzle, this is the perfect solution.

But I don't know where the heating element is located, if, as in the first option, then the problem is solvable, and if, as in the second, then during this operation it will be damaged.

I haven't found any information on this issue, maybe you know where the heating element is?
