The cheapest way to heat a greenhouse in winter.
Many vegetable growers grow plants in a greenhouse not only in the warm season, but in spring, autumn, or even winter. And of course they have a question about how to reduce the cost of heating the greenhouse.
Over the years, experience comes in this difficult matter. I would like to share very valuable tips in this article.
The most important point is to prepare the greenhouse for the winter period. It is necessary to carefully inspect the greenhouse for holes and crevices that will interfere with maintaining the desired temperature in the room. If found, they should be repaired to avoid heat loss.
Next, you have to build a homemade heater. For this design, we need an old metal bucket and a small tin can, which we place on the red brick at the bottom of the bucket. After choosing a can, it must be filled with vegetable oil, into which a long candle is lowered and placed in a bucket.
We light the candle, and cover the bucket with a metal lid with holes drilled or punched in it, through which the oxygen necessary for burning the candle will flow. Thus, the bucket heats up to 70 degrees, turning into an excellent source of heat.
If the greenhouse is large, then you can put several makeshift stoves. The candle burns for up to 6 days, but still it is worth checking from time to time or it has not gone out.
This method is not only budgetary, but also quite safe. Candles and oil are inexpensive and last long. If we compare the costs of electric heating, then this option is much more profitable and easier. The method has been tested over the years by quite experienced vegetable growers and has never let them down.
