Simple technology for creating a stone relief - an idea for a note

In one of the previous materials, we told how the craftsmen of the portal make a budget artificial stone from gypsum and concrete using the casting method. Now let's reveal a simplified way of giving any stone texture when decorating an interior, facade or garden small forms.

Monolithic stone "under the rock"

Works of FORUMHOUSE member with nickname rogok cause delight and desire to immediately master the grader perfectly. But to learn this, even a few years of hard training is not enough - you also need impeccable taste and artistic vision. This skill is no longer even a skill, but an art.

This house in the Moscow region, plastered “under the castle”, is the work of our user's partner, performed according to the following “madly simple” technology, in which not a single “stone” is repeated.

You don't have to bother with the shapes, but make everything a monolith, "cut" it to fit any breed, and then paint it with acrylic and fill it with varnish. The only drawback of this technique is that you need an artistic taste and vision, what you want to get in the end.

Here is a description of the technology in general terms: any mesh (like a plaster). Up to 30 dowels are used per mesh square. A coating layer is applied to the mesh, which should completely hide it.

After drying, the base layer is applied to the coating layer from 3 to 10 cm (otherwise the required volume will not be obtained), which is textured and cut. Cutting depth of the main layer - up to the first coating layer. When the base coat dries, it is painted with acrylic and varnish is applied.

Depending on the «type of stone» has its own sequence: seams, backing, transitions, etc. Everything can be sewn into a stone.

This technology is actively used in the USA, in Hollywood it is used to create decorations, everything is made using it. zoos, and in private housing construction it is used to decorate fireplaces, waterfalls, swimming pools, alpine slides, etc. P.

This work uses sand concrete and additives - polymers that make the mortar plastic, like plasticine. Sand concrete dries up, and when grouting, large particles are expelled, so the stone looks just like natural.

We do not use stamps, only stamps (homemade tools from spatulas, which the craftsmen bend and cut at their discretion) and rollers with stones (homemade products).

The task of textured sand concrete is a stone that looks exactly like natural. Therefore, the larger the fraction in the sand, the better, even dirt is acceptable: in the process of working with the product it will have to rub, tap on it, and the more large fillers come out of it, the more natural it will be to look like.

Interior decoration of the premises is carried out using the same technology.

Rogok does not reveal all the secrets of the skill that feeds him, but many of our users have been inspired by the results of this technology and decided to "saw" it on their own, inventing their own techniques and ways.

Artificial stone in the landscape

How an artificial stone can transform any suburban structure, consider the example of an iron pipe dug into the ground.

This is what this pipe looked like before a FORUMHOUSE member Anubis2012 applied to it sand concrete, his skillful hands and the technology of "monolithic stone".

And this is how she looks now.

It took two days to work and about four bags of sand concrete.

The technology is as follows: without formwork, a layer of mortar is applied directly to the product. When it dries up to the state of "it can still scrub", there will be about an hour left to give it a stone texture.

The higher the grade of sand concrete, the better, you can use a screed mixture and add a little PVA.

Having seen this masterpiece in the world of MAFs, many of our users wanted to design in this way concrete rings of a drainage well or large water barrels sticking out.

Here is the sequence of actions the wizard recommends for this:

  • make a lightweight galvanized mesh frame;
  • fix the plaster mesh on it with a knitting wire (you can immediately create a relief from it to save the solution);
  • coat the mesh with the first layer of solution - the mesh should be completely hidden by it;
  • when the first layer sets, the main layer is applied; do not throw in more than 5 cm of solution at a time;
  • paint the finished product with a brush or a spray gun, and later cover with a protective compound, for example, a colorless varnish to protect stone products; this will allow the product to survive any winter without loss.

Also, hands are not for boredom? Press your finger!

How to cast molds from silicone and stone in them from concrete and plaster - as much detail as possible on personal experience. Another way to decorate is in publications about printed concrete.
