Siberian fairy tale, or how people live in the outback of our country
Last winter I managed to visit Siberia, went by train, so I had the opportunity to consider the surrounding nature and life. The local villages impressed me the most. Old-built houses, heated with wood and coal. How, tell me, how in our high-tech age, in a country that sells gas abroad, can this be?
The villages are mostly located along the road, one long street. It was very rare to see several streets in the center of the village. The houses are old, more like a hut from a children's fairy tale. And in one of these houses I had to live for a week. Inside, in fact, there are not so many differences from our houses. An exception is the lack of heating.
There is a real Russian stove in the house, you get the feeling that you are transported to the distant past. Apart from heating, there is no bathroom. There is a bathhouse in almost every house, and that's where people bathe.
But the local bath has delighted me, our bathhouses are resting. First, the smell, the real smell of wood. Brooms that are collected by hand. After the steam room, you feel gorgeous, going out into the frosty air of Siberia.
I managed to feel both local frosts and blizzards, but in spite of everything, I came to the conclusion that I like it there. There is something magical in these houses, in the smoke from the chimney, in this life, which moves in its own rhythm. There is no such bustle of big cities, people live and work, keep households, make friends and visit each other. It seems to me that sometimes, everyone needs to take a break from the city and go for a week to some remote place of our homeland.
