What kind of housing is considered prestigious in New Zealand

click fraud protection

Almost all over the world, the most expensive and prestigious areas are city centers. Modern office buildings, new houses, shops are concentrated here, all entertainment infrastructure is close, it is easy to get to work or educational institution from here. But in New Zealand, the opposite is true. Local residents prefer to settle on the outskirts of cities, as they are very attached to the land, and New Zealanders do not recognize a house without a plot.

The farther from the center, the more expensive housing is. And the more prestigious to live here. In addition to paying for the house itself, its maintenance, New Zealanders also pay a large tax on land.

On the outskirts of cities, behind the sleeping area, there are areas that are called Lifestyle here. These are streets with large mansions and plots of land, often with their own backyard garden. Such houses are bought more often by middle-aged people with families. Buying such real estate is an indicator of the high status of the owner.

The more residents choose to move here, the smaller the plots become and the more expensive and authoritative it is to live in such an area. Some old plots have already been divided into 2 or even 4, houses are very close to each other, and all the land is behind them. The value of such property increases every year, although the size is getting smaller.

But there are certain statistics between residents. They say they don't live in such houses for more than three years. They will take the children to school, clubs, sections, they will struggle to get to work, and they also sell housing, buying it closer to the center. But still in a residential area. After all, the main reason why one does not live here for a long time is the finding of all jobs in the center, where it is not so easy to get there from your cozy corner.

There are many old villas in the vicinity. They are cherished as architectural monuments. Many such structures, even those built a hundred years ago, have been perfectly preserved. The main reason is that they are built from a tree that grows only in New Zealand - cowrie. It practically does not rot and remains for a long time. The tree has been growing for more than one thousand years, very beautiful, strong, huge in size.

By the way, an interesting fact - now cowries are protected by law from possums and some kind of infection that destroyed many trees several years ago. The forest is supervised by special services that record the movements of possums, their numbers. And in front of the entrance to the park areas and forest belts there are special sprinklers for shoes, which must be used to disinfect the sole of all visitors without fail.

If such a structure needs repair, it is allowed to restore or erect new walls with a reverse sides of the house, and in front they require leaving the old look so as not to get out of the general composition of the old streets.

The area is called Devonport, and housing is very expensive here. Almost all plots have access to the sea, with beautiful views of the city. The entire area is considered an architectural heritage; the conditions for the maintenance and repair of buildings, and the care of the sites themselves are carefully checked.

Why is this attitude of local residents to the land? New Zealanders are individualists and owners, these concepts have been introduced into their lives by cultural, spiritual values for many generations. The land here has always been of great value, especially for the Maori culture, and the presence of a site and a house on it is an indicator of the authority and influence of its owner.

In our country, the concept of "private sector" is often associated with dilapidated old houses. Although, we must pay tribute, more and more really good houses are being built, with large beautiful plots, there is a tendency towards the growth of individual village plots outside the city. Many people leave the city anthills, preferring a small home of their own with a vegetable garden, a garden and flower beds. Would you like to live in a private house? And where - in our country or in New Zealand?
